Osborn, Air Traffic Control, Dusseldorf Airport, Germany initially posted Hamilton 9 JUL machine supported with red BERMUDA-OFFICIAL/PAID handstamp being subsequently deleted in red crayon with boxed red "Returned for/(1/6) Postage.", three KG6 6d added and pmk'd Hamilton 12 JUL 51 with FIELD POST OFFICE 893 d/ring dated 18 JY 51 as arrival backstamp.
The authoritative Geoffrey Osborn formed one of the very best postal history collections of Bermuda.

1901 cover and enclosure on printed sender address envelope and letterhead to Mrs. L. D. Baker, Hotel Tourraine, Boston, Massachusetts posted with QV 2½d Keyplate pmk'd Port Antonio DEC 18 01.
This letter from Joshua on Capt. Lorenzo Dow Baker letterhead to Mrs. L.D. Baker would infer that this is from a second son. The letter mentions dear old Bowden, having a vaccination which did not take, and children Edith and little Dow.

1871 wrapper with J. BORGES DA SILVA/MALTA sender's cachet to Livorno, Italy with double rate paid by pair GB QV 1d Plate 111, pair QV 3d Plate 6 pmk'd Malta "A25" duplex dated B/AP 28 71 showing red handstruck "2 3/4" accountancy reserved for single weight letters (the double rate was applied as "5½" in blue manuscript as no handstruck instrument was made).

HMS SULTAN (under command of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh), MALTA postal history
1877 cover with H.M.S. SULTAN printed flap to the Honorable Mrs. Lindsay, Woodlands, Cardiff, South Wales (possibly written by Royal hand) with GB QV 2½d rosy-mauve Plate 5 pmk'd Malta "A25" duplex dated D/AP 6 77, flap intact but poorly opened either side of printing clear of light Cardiff C/AP 11 77 arrival.
In 1876 HMS Sultan was refitted and reduced from a small Channel Fleet coastal warship to a barque rig and posted to the Mediterranean under the command of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Albert (1844-1900) second son of Queen Victoria. Alfred married the Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovana of Russia in St. Petersburg and their second daughter Princess Victoria Melita was born on 25 November 1876 in Malta. Prince Alfred, Honorary President 1890-1900 of what is now the Royal Philatelic Society, was the first serious stamp collector in the royal family and it is thought that he encouraged his nephew, later KGV, to collect stamps. Prince Alfred sold his collection to his brother King Edward VII, who shared his enthusiasm, who in turn gave it to his son King George V, and keenly expanded by the latter the two collections became the basis of what is now the Royal Philatelic collection.

1890 opened to display cover showing HUDDART, PARKER & Cos.. LINE printed sender's flap to Huddart-Parker & Co, Melbourne, Australia with QV 4d brown pmk'd Malta "A25" duplex dated H/SP 11 90, b/stamped Brindisi (13-9) and Melbourne (OC 16).
Malta joined the UPU on JY 1 1875 but Australia did not become a member until OC 1 1891.
